Cuándo se utilizan las preposiciones at / on / in

Son muchas las preposiciones, pero en esta unidad vamos a centrarnos en at, on, in.
At se utiliza:
• Para referirnos a las horas.
-When do you have lunch?¿Cuándo almuerzas?- At quarter to three.A las tres menos cuarto.
• Con expresiones de tiempo.
- When do you practice the guitar?¿Cuándo practicas con la guitarra?- At the weekend.El fin de semana.- When are you going to visit your family?¿Cuando vas a visitar a tu familia?- At Christmas.En Navidad.- He's talking on the phone at the moment.Él está hablando por teléfono en este momento.- I always read a book at night.Siempre leo un libro por la noche.
On se utiliza:
• Delante de los días de la semana.
- When do you have your English lessons?¿Cuándo tienes tus lecciones de inglés?- On Wednesday.El miércoles.
• Con fechas.
- When is your birthday?¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?- On the 15th of November.El 15 de Noviembre.
In se utiliza:
• Con expresiones de tiempo:
I have a shower in the morning.Me ducho por la mañana.I meet my friends in the afternoon.Me reuno con mis amigos por la tarde.I have dinner in the evening.Ceno por la tarde / noche.
ATENCIÓN: Por la noche se dice at night, como hemos visto en el ejemplo anterior, no se dice; in the night.
• Delante de los meses del año:
My birthday is in September.Mi cumpleaños es en Septiembre.
• Delante de las estaciones del año.
In Spain, It's very hot in summer.En España, hace mucha calor en verano.
• Con épocas:
I was born in the 80's.Nací en los 80.Napoleón Bonaparte was born in the 18th century, on August 15th, 1769 to be precise.Napoleón Bonaparte nació en el siglo 18, el 15 de Agosto,1769 para ser preciso.
